Summer Project

For your summer project you are expected to complete the following question:

Photographers such as William Eggleston and Martin Parr often celebrate the ordinary by taking photographs of everyday objects and scenes to discover something interesting about the ordinary. To do this, they may alter the angle of view or isolate items from their usual surroundings.

Refer to appropriate sources and use ordinary, everyday objects and/or scenes to make images that show them in a new way.

You can interpret this question in any way you see appropriate.
Suggestions for ideas:

  • Take a series of images of your favourite object from different viewpoints and angles - look at how this changes the way it looks.
  • Take your camera to the park and take a series of images of things that you don't normally notice much everyday - litter bins, swings, railings.
  • Use your camera to document your daily life during the holidays - photograph your TV screen, your toothbrush, your lunch, your bath......
Be selective about your images (choose the best). We expect to see at least 10 good quality images in September.

To extend this project you could research the given photographers and try to take your own images in the style of their work.
